Edited by: Astria Tiphareth on 01/04/2009 16:47:27 First off I'm very pleased that some quite serious bugs have been fixed. However, I do wish we'd see a little more 'we're aware of the problem & feedback' and a little less 'shush, it's an intended feature'.
I remember complaining when the patches were out only on the test server that the new pulse laser effects gave me a headache and logged a bug. I was told that the design was an intended feature - it's very hard to not get annoyed when you're effectively told 'hey, we don't care whether this game makes your eyes bleed, as long as you pay us' because often people stop paying after such treatment. I'm not stupid or arrogant enough to believe that the game revolves around me, but I'm not the only one who commented on this, and we've all been ignored. I really don't want to end up in a circumstance where combat is to be avoided because of a poor visual experience, in a combat-focused game! (also a lot of the new effects are great, but it only takes a few bad ones used by numerous ships and suddenly it's a real problem).
In a related vein, I'm not going to comment on the sound - it's all been said. Listen to that feedback! People want to revel in the glorious space combat that is EVE and that means decent sound for some people! Right now I keep thinking 'who went and muted everything?' If some say 'I don't play with sound', that's not an excuse to neglect the players that do use sound. It would be like me saying 'I don't fly carriers or use cynos and it's mostly alts that do it, so I don't care if they're broken or look awful' - it would be just as totally out of order.
Yes the above is a bit of a rant, and I apologise for that. I know how much hard work has gone into Apocrypha and truly the overall result is excellent. CCP should be genuinely proud of the expansion they have created. Just please please do the 'spit & polish' work on what has been added. ___ My views may not represent those of my corporation, which is why I never get invited to those diplomatic parties...
